TL;DR
SEO Lab is a free Chrome extension. We provide it as-is, with no warranty. Use it at your own risk. If you donate, we appreciate it but you’re not buying anything specific. We’re a Taiwan operation; Taiwanese law applies.
1. Acceptance
By installing and using SEO Lab (“the Extension”), you agree to these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not install or use the Extension.
2. Who we are
SEO Lab is operated by WebBiz (webbiz.tw), a Taiwan-based individual developer studio.
- Contact: [email protected]
3. License to use
We grant you a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, revocable license to install and use the Extension for personal or commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.
The Extension is free. There is no paid tier.
4. Your responsibilities
You agree to:
- Only connect Google accounts you own or are authorized to use
- Comply with Google API Terms of Service when using Google data through the Extension
- Not use the Extension to violate Google Search Console or Analytics terms (e.g., do not aggregate competitor data without permission)
- Not reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the Extension to circumvent its design
- Not use the Extension for illegal purposes
5. AI Overview detection rate limits
The Extension fetches Google search result pages from your browser to detect AI Overview citations. We rate-limit these fetches conservatively (per-keyword max once per day, with random 15-30 minute jitter between checks) to respect Google’s automated request guidelines.
If Google’s anti-bot system flags your IP (CAPTCHA), the Extension will pause AIO detection automatically for 24 hours. You can adjust limits in Settings.
You are responsible for any consequences of these fetches under Google’s Terms of Service.
6. No warranty
THE EXTENSION IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE”, WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.
We make no warranty that:
- SEO experiments will improve your rankings
- Verdicts (“有用 / 沒用 / 看不出”) accurately predict business outcomes
- Google APIs will remain stable, accessible, or unchanged
- AIO detection will work after Google changes its search result page structure
- The Extension will be free of bugs
SEO results depend on countless factors outside our control (Google algorithm updates, competitor actions, content quality, etc.). The Extension helps you record hypotheses and observe outcomes; it does not guarantee outcomes.
7. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:
- Loss of search rankings, traffic, revenue, or business opportunities
- Loss of data (back up regularly via Settings → Export JSON)
- Damages caused by Google API quota exhaustion or rate limits
- Damages caused by relying on Verdict outputs to make business decisions
- Indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
Maximum aggregate liability: the total amount you have donated to us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or NTD 100 (whichever is greater).
8. Donations
v0 status: Donations are disabled in the current v0 release. The Extension does not display any Ko-fi handle or cryptocurrency wallet address. The terms below apply once donations are enabled in v1+.
If you choose to support the project (once donations are enabled in v1+):
- Voluntary: donations are entirely optional; the Extension is fully functional without them
- Non-refundable: once made, donations cannot be returned
- No exchange: donations do not unlock features, grant priority support, or create any obligation on us
- Tax: donors are responsible for any tax implications in their jurisdiction
We will accept donations via Ko-fi (fiat) and published cryptocurrency wallet addresses. Donor information is handled by those platforms (Ko-fi) or is pseudonymous (crypto). See Privacy Policy.
9. Third-party services
The Extension integrates with Google APIs and (optionally) Ko-fi. We are not responsible for:
- Outages or changes to Google APIs (Search Console, Analytics 4)
- Ko-fi outages or policy changes
- Cryptocurrency network outages or your wallet provider
You agree to those services’ own Terms of Service.
10. OAuth and Google verification
The Extension uses Google OAuth to access your Search Console and Analytics data on your behalf. While the application is in unverified status (during Google’s review process), Chrome will display a warning. We are actively pursuing verification; please accept the warning at your own discretion.
Once verified, the warning will no longer appear.
11. Open source / Source availability
We may publish part or all of the Extension’s source code on GitHub for transparency. Source availability does not transfer copyright; the license terms in those repositories will apply if and when we publish.
12. Changes to the Extension or Terms
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the Extension at any time. We may update these Terms; significant changes will be communicated via:
- “Last updated” date in this document
- In-app notification in the Extension
- Re-acceptance prompt for major changes
Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
13. Termination
You may stop using the Extension at any time by uninstalling it. We may terminate your access if you violate these Terms.
Upon termination:
- Your local data remains on your machine until you uninstall (or delete via Settings)
- We have no obligation to retrieve any data for you (we don’t have it on our servers)
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan).
Any dispute will first be attempted to resolve via good-faith email correspondence ([email protected]). If unresolved within 30 days, disputes will be submitted to Taipei District Court as the court of first instance, unless otherwise required by mandatory consumer protection law in your jurisdiction.
